The latest legislative amendments on imports of goods take into account the fact that from 1st of July 2021, VAT must be collected on all imports, including those of low value.
According to the new rules concerning the field of electronic commerce for the declaration of goods and the payment of VAT, the exemption from VAT on imports of goods in consignments not exceeding 10 Euro is eliminated.
This means that you will pay VAT on all goods imported into the EU, regardless of their value.
Get an EORI Code online
If you do not have an EORI (Economic Operators ’Registration and Identification Number) number for customs formalities, you will need to obtain one from the customs authority.
The electronic code of the European Union Customs Cooperation System (EU) makes it possible to recognize companies, no matter where they are located. Thus, when goods arrive at European customs, border agents will automatically have access to all the necessary information on imports and exports – and this saves time and money for everyone.
The quickest and easiest way to obtain the EORI code is at your fingertips: just send the necessary documents (certificate of registration from ONRC, certificate of registration for VAT purposes – if applicable – and the articles of incorporation for companies, respectively identity card for individuals) through the form on the website https://cod-eori.ro or by email to generare@cod-eori.ro.

You will receive the EORI code by email within approximately 1-2 business days of submitting your application. This number is obtained only once and will be presented to the authorities whenever required (for import-export activities outside the Union).
